CERTs PROVIDE AID TO THE FIRE DEPT
We were dispatched on Monday morning, April 28, 2008 to a reported brush fire on Highway 77, just east of Oracle Ford. The 20 mile per hour wind was rapidly driving the fire towards the Oracle Ford car lot. Our initial attack involved flanking the fire and choking it from it's westerly direction of travel. The fire was contained from spreading in about 20 minutes, but took 9 of our firefighters another 4 hours to extinguish all of the hot spots. A witness stated that a truck had blown a tire in the same area just prior to the start of the fire. The fire was contained to 1.5 acres and no injuries or private property damage were reported.
