CLASSES OFFERED AT
ORACLE FIRE DEPARTMENT . . .
The Oracle Fire Department hosts a variety of classes throughout the year.
Classes (when offered) are posted on the OFD Calendar and can be found by clicking the CALENDAR sidebar on our home page. If you are interested in taking a class at Oracle Fire Department, please fill out and submit a CLASS INTEREST FORM.
CLASS SCHEDULES and COST:
• CPR and Basic First Aid classes are normally held during the morning hours, and can be scheduled for any day except Sunday. No evening classes are available. These classes are provided at no cost to residents of Oracle.
• EMT Refresher, EMT-B and Firefighter I&II are provided through Central Arizona College (CAC). Check their web site at www.centralaz.edu for scheduling and cost information.
• Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) classes are provided by Oracle Fire Department and are scheduled on an "as needed" basis. This class is provided at no cost to those who have been screened and pre-approved by Oracle Fire Department.
DESCRIPTION OF CLASSES:
• CPR for the Community and Workplace – This CPR class is structured to teach basic skills to the ordinary citizen who may witness a sudden cardiac arrest event. Chest compression along with breathing and airway techniques are covered, as well as continuous compression techniques. The use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) is also covered. Please indicate on the form if this is a "first time" class or a "refresher" class for you.
• CPR ASHI Pro (Healthcare Provider level) – This CPR class is intended for Professional Rescuer (firefighter, ambulance etc) occupations, or those working in the healthcare field. This class teaches chest compression, oxygen administration, advanced airway techniques and AED skills.
• Basic First Aid – This 3-hour class focuses on injuries and other traumatic events. Basic First Aid techniques and personal safety precautions are briefly covered in this class.
• EMS First Responder – This 48-hour class is an advanced First Aid class, and is intended for those who may respond to emergency incidents to assist EMTs, Paramedics and other emergency responders. This is a good beginner class for those wanting to take an EMT class. Students under the age of 18 will need written parental permission.
• EMT Refresher, EMT-B and FF I&II – Contact Central Arizona College for all information regarding these classes. The Oracle Fire Department tries to host these classes once per year.
• CERT – A 24-hour class, intended for citizens who want to learn how to assist other emergency responders during a major emergency incident. Oracle Fire Department sponsors an active group of CERTs who participate in many community events throughout the year.
